08.07.10

We celebrated my dad's 59th birthday in Arlington with my sister and her energetic family.   The photo below is a pretty accurate portrayal of the happy chaos that ensues with the three girls.  A little milk-drinking, a lot of question-asking, and a bit of jumping; all in various states of undress!  We love it.
The Rouswells.  Looking like a one-kid family and all enjoying their bevy of choice.
Josh and his ladies.
Sisters!
After the kids went to bed, we enjoyed steaks, potatoes, and vino followed by some Xbox mayhem (for the boys) for dessert.

Aerosmith!  I knew I would love all the songs and the opening band (Blue October).  I did not know how creepy it would be to watch 62-year-old Steven Tyler rock out in tight pants, a tank top, and high tops.
Chris is a huge fan of Aerosmith.  Huge.

Day two in Vernon started in the usual way, with a mean game of dominos.  It's pretty fun that Ellie can play along and it allows her Aunt B the opportunity to win at least a few hands.  My grandparents are not kidding around.
On our way back into town to visit Granny we stopped on the side of the road to pick sunflowers just like Miss and I used to do back in the day.  Some things never change.  Here's to this trip becoming a yearly tradition!

Miss and I decided to take a girls' trip to Vernon to visit all the grandparents.  We had a fantastic time showing Ellie all the fun things we used to do as kids. We hit up Norm's Catfish as soon as we got into town.  Apparently, as Norm has been dead for ten years, it is now The Catfish Grill but no one calls it that and so we had a lovely lunch at Norm's.
Next up, Granny's house.  Ellie loved playing with all Granny's fun trinkets as much as we did.  If "You Can't do that on Television" had been on the tv, it would have been a complete recreation of 1986.
On to Grandmama and Grandaddy's to discover the gazebo, meet Rosco the cat, and try on hats!

Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum, respectively, have kept us running and flipping and chasing all week!

A few weeks ago we celebrated the season premier of Mad Men with Ankur and Paula.  Rather than just sit on the couch in my pajamas as I had previously planned, Paula and Ankur "convinced" us to dress up like Don and Betty Draper and watch the show in style.  Dave Cole "convinced" them to partake in his era-appropriate martinis and we all had a swell time!
**Note:  We are by no means insinuating that the Drapers would drink Charles Shaw; simply a case of a misaligned self-timer.

08.01.10

Whew!  In the past 14 days we have wrapped up our Chicago adventure, survived the roof collapse of 2010, packed up one house, said good-bye to friends, moved to Cincinnati, waited five days for everything we own to be delivered, and unpacked a new house.  I think it may take me the next month to process the fact that I am no longer a student but a resident of Cincinnati and a soon-to-be employee!
David's unstaged excitement as he saw the moving truck round the corner.

Oh, and thanks to Frommert for the new blog name.  First I copied his pic-a-day idea, then his dunny collection, and now I've stolen his play on words!
