My brand took a trip to New Orleans for a summit with our agencies so David and I decided to tack on a few days and make a weekend of it. A birthday and Halloween weekend, that is! The city was pretty dead the first few days I was there but it began to liven up as all the Steelers fans and Halloween revelers took over.
Bourbon Street on a Wednesday night
Andrea (ABM on Cascade) and I with our chef at a work team-building event. He was an ex-football player for LSU and the Chargers. Imagine that!
Once DC got into town, we made sure to stop for a NOLA snack every few hours. First on the list, beignets and coffee at Cafe du Monde.
Next, a Muffaletta from Central Grocery. Those beignets put me in the mood for something savory!
Sitting by the Mississippi reading our newly-purchased travel book. We tried to make do without one but that lasted about 30 whole minutes.

We took to the Garden District to walk off some of our indulgences and stare open-mouthed at the gorgeous houses.

Saturday, the streets were pretty crowded as the French Quarter geared up for that evening's festivities. I am not a huge fan of Halloween and felt safer sitting up high and watching from afar. Luckily, DC was easily swayed to join me with some gumbo and red beans and rice!

One friend foodie, the WSJ, and the NYT all raved about Lilette on Magazine Street. We didn't think twice about getting a rezi and were more than glad we did.

After brunch we relaxed in the Ritz lounge and watched the Cowboys fall apart in what felt like our own personal living room. David felt so comfortable that he didn't temper his typical "yell at the tv" Sunday persona. Writing that, perhaps there was a reason no one joined us in the lounge!
